Some of my favorite movies from those turbulent seventies were the horrendously bad , yet outrageously cool Blaxploitation films like " Get Christie Love " and " Blackbelt Jones " . Sadly , in the 1/6 action doll market there are relatively few black characters , though Takara's Ebony and Perfect Body AA do much to fulfill one's needs for some ethnic diversity . Fortunately in the fashion doll market there is Integrity Toys and their Janay line is chock full of some of the most gorgeous ethnic headsculpts you could ever wish for . Toss aside the " Barbie" bods and plant them onto a PB or Ebony body and you've got some truly fine examples of a relatively unexploited resource for great characters .  In keeping with the theme , I wanted to give Bimini more of an undercover cop sensibility ; like good ol' Teresa Graves from " Get Christie Love " . She needed to have that image of "streetwalker chic " in lieu of the paramilitary fashions that make up a lot of the Cool Girl dolls . Her tiger stripe top is from " My Scene " , her slacks are Lucy Lieu's from Jakks' " Charlies Angels " , shoes are from " My Scene " , purse from " Barbie " and her head is Janay . The color match between head and body isn't perfect , but the difference is disguised by her neck coils , I also did some color matching on her feet by repainting the " My Scene " shoes .    In keeping with the Seventies theme for Bimini , I recently snagged the Sideshow Toys Jame Bond , " Live and Let Die " character tribute figure of Julius Harris as Tee Hee as well as a fuzzy " trashy chic " jacket for Bimini .  Whether Tee Hee will be a friend or foe to Bimini is still undecided in my mind , but at this point , I'm just happy to have another excellent AA figure for my collection . Bimini's new coat is just what I was looking for to complete her custom , nothing quite sez Black Street Fashion during the '70's as much as a garrish fur coat .  Certainly not the rugged handsomeness of a Samuel L. Jackson or a Denzel Washington , still there's something about the character of Julius Harris that I have found appealing ever since my intoduction to him when "LALD " debuted back in 1973 . I think he makes a striking counterpoint to the svelte beauty of Bimini .  Bimin has some major league platforms , so I was very happy that the Tee Hee figure was tall enough to still stand up ( not so figuratively speaking ) next to Bimini .
