![]() While there are a great many 12 inch action dolls with synthetic hair , there are those that have the simpler and cheaper hair representation of a sculpted do . While some collectors don't care whether a figure has real hair or a plastic head cover , some do and tend to ignore otherwise excellent figures for the mere absence of natural looking hair . For those talented and patient folks who possess the intestinal fortitude to re-root , a sculpted hair cap may not be a problem though a sculpted hair cut can impede the re-rooting process . Some circumvent the dilemna of re-rooting a headsculpt with molded hair by using available scale wigs but that is just one possible solution . Another example I have seen used is removing the crown of the headsculpt and re-gluing a new pate that has rooted hair . That was a technique i used when I gave my General Ursus figure real hair . Sea International's " Moon Girl " had a stylish short molded hair sculpt , and as stylish hair styles go , it suited that figure very nicely . When I decided to customize " Moon Girl " I thought she would look even better if she had realistic hair and since I didn't have on hand a wig that suited my need to keep her short hair style , I decided to use a technique used to a small extent on my General Ursus , that has been used with great effectiveness by An42 from the Men With Dolls forum that employs simple gluing of short tufts of yarn or other hair material onto the headsculpt . ![]() The method of gluing on hair can depend greatly on the type of artificial hair you are utilizing for your wigging . For Moon Girl I had two different types of wigging material , mohair and flax . The mohair tends to be a bit too frizzy at small scale , the flax having a much slicker look , though problematic due to its waviness . Fortunately , with the short hairstyle I was replicating for Moon Girl , that waviness worked to my advantage in allowing me to keep a nice variety of natural style in the swatches of hair in the layering process . ![]() I began by starting at the back of the headsculpt and working up and around the head . The average size of the applied tufts of hair being 1/4 inch wide and 1/2 to 3/4 inches long , attached with a thinned down Sobo craft glue thinned down with Woodland Scenics' " Scenic Cement " ; both glues dry transparent and flexible . A final hair plug will be implanted at the top of the head and fanned around the top of the crown to complete the wigging , though that stage has not yet been applied in these photos . These shots show only the glued on base layers . I did preliminary styling after each layer , which involved trimming and feathering as well as contouring with boiling water to shape the hair to the head . Once the tufts have dried thoroughly I will do more trimming , shaping and feathering with scissors , needles and paintbrush . Even at this intial stage , the effect of Moon Girl's new hair style is quite dramatic . ![]() To finish off this wigging app , I took 5 strands of flax and tied them together to form a single top knot , the tied off end was glued to form a hard plug and I cut a hole in the top of MG's head where her sculpted hair radiated outward . I pushed this top knot into her head and then teased the flax out so that it formed an encompassing fan of hair across the crown of her head . Hot water was then brushed to contour the flax to the head . Once that was dry I began styling this into the rest of the hair , trimming and shaping it as i went . ![]() ![]() MG needed a more futuristic weapon than a M-14 so a recruited the custom HK/Maggie Hammer machine pistol that I built for Destiny . I added the laser sighting mechanism with the hand grip from the CG Harley figure to the top of the gun just to give it a more unique profile . At this stage I am envisioning MG as a cyborg . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Warrior Maiden | Femforce Customs | Jungle Woman | CopperheadPenny | CoolioGirls | WarriorMaidengallery2 | Race Bannon | sci-figal | biminirhodes | Catwoman | sorceress | Femforce Customs2 | A Mod Look | Jennifer Wetworks | OnnaBugei_sha | Gila Garnet | whisper | headsculpts | costume | Wigging It | Darth Fatalus | Swashbuckler | Finn O'malley | Darth Fatalus Diorama | streetfighter | MoonGirlRedux | dakota_montana | ZombieKillerBikerLesbos | Hair | Thaay Katar | halfbreed | princessofmars | HestervanWeiren | Autumn Bliss | BioSaber Ruby | | CoolGirlCustoms | WildRoses | CoolGirl Collection | CoolGirl Collection2 | CoolGirl Collection3 | TheToysmith | CoolGirl Collection4 | CoolGirl Collection 5 | CoolGirl Collection 6 | CoolGirl Collection 7 | CoolGirl Collection8 | Kill All Robots CyberHuntress | CoolGirl Collection 9 | CoolGirl Collection 10 | Bad Amy | Buckaroo Betty | SimpleDetails | CoolGirl Collection 11 | coolgirlHQ | Cool Girl Comics | Cool Girl collection 12 | KisaragiKustom | AlternativeCutey | coolgirl_collection9 | DX-Style Yuni | DX Style Sanchez | Triad Toys | Cool Girl _Akiko Fuji | CG Gallery | Samurai Figures | Cool Girl Collection13 | Cool Links | Triad_2 | Playscale ResourceCenter | Sword and Sorcery | | ReelArts Blue Bulleteer | Shocker Toys | Cool Girls | KiniKomix | KiniKomix2 | Custom Action Figures | eBay Auctions | AppleseedTribute | Macross Valkyrie | Planet of the Apes | Horse Sense | WeaversUpholsteryToo | ToyBiz_Iron Man | Dirty Pair | On Display | The OTHER Gorby | | Return Home | Updates | The Archive | Gorby Site Map | Geeb-O-Rama's Model Workshop | Geeb's Toy Box | Geeb-O-Rama Goodies | Movie Madness | World Of The Bizarre | Cool Beans | |
