![]() Latest Update : Monday , May 12th , 2008 |
![]() So much to do and so little time , and I'm really behind in updating this site . Never seems to be enough hours in a day and the time change didn't help either ! While you're waiting for me to catch up with this place , take a gander at some of the new stuff . . . Haldis of Vanaheim , a pseudo-Hyborian Age Action Girl may be found at THIS KWIK LINK I continue on with my tutorials on creating 1:6 scale swords with two new weapons at this link : Broadswords and Rapiers Or you can scroll down to the next entry and revisit the beginning . Clicking Here will take you to the latest entry in my line of Robothunters , this time around it's a robot sympathizer of all people ! And hopefully within the next decade I'll finish up my long overdue updates ! Till then , ENJOY ! ![]() I received a request to create a tutorial on the creation of custom 1:6 scale swords , since the only " How To " here at Geeb-O-Rama on making custom blades features the creation of the blade itself and nothing else , and then the scale concerned is 1:18 . I have begun work on that tutorial , and it will focus on all aspects of creating an edged weapon for your 12 inch tall action figure , from concept and design through to the finished piece and all steps in between . Part One has been completed , Kwik Jump to the tutorial ! ![]() A brand new section here at Geeb-O-Rama , the Playscale Resource Center is a continually updated segment where you will be able to take advantage of the hours and hours I spend surfing around the internet searching out those sites that are a source of inspiration and supplies for ALL of your 1:6 Scale hobby needs ! I weed out all the fodder and provide links to those sites that I consider " The Best " whether you are seeking inspiration for a new custom , some tips , tricks or " how to's " or where to go to find that elusive " must Have " item for your own creative pursuits . Check out the initial entries by Clicking Here ! ![]() I've been planning this diorama for about three years , it's a subject that aesthetically is one of my artistic passions , japanese architecture , which shares a similar design motif to another of my artistic passions " Mission style " , I adore working in wood and both the Arts and Crafts movement and Japanese period architecture use wood in abundance , with an emphasis on straight , clean lines and simplicity . It's hard to beat the simplicity when it comes down to building a vignette such as this ( it looks much more complex than it really is ) and this featurette at Geeb-O-Rama will be detailing it all so that you may also create a period japanese setpiece of your very own . Let's face it , dioramas are playsets for adults , and when you've got some awesomely wicked-cool samurai and ninja figures , they deserve a display to emphasize just how great they really are . Kwik Jump to the Geeb-O-Rama featurette by clicking Shoji Diorama ![]() You've seen 'em on eBay , repainted headsculpts that sell in the hundreds , and while you can't paint like those guys , neither can you afford to shell out a hundred bucks on just a HEAD ! What do you do ? You teach yourself how to repaint a head all by yourself , or at least with a modicum of outside assistance . This speacial featurette at Geeb-O-Rama takes you on a step by step photo journal of my latest repaint of a headsculpt , and some of the things I'm doing in order to make up for my inexperience at the task at hand . I'm posting big ol' pictures that will let you see the work and techniques up close and hopefully described in a manner that will answer questions you may have . This is a tutorial for folks who have never re-painted a head , or like me , have re-painted very very few and are still learning . Continuing their DX Series and pushing the envelope in collectible Premium 1:6 Scale Action Figure Sets , Triad Toys has unleashed The Ternion Wars Alpha Series with the first of three new releases , Amaya DX ! These Limited Edition DX Sets have been so successful , a production run increase had to be made to satisfy customer demand and the series shows no signs of slowing down . Whereas the competition plays it safe with licensed figures Triad once again proves they're playing hardball in a market filled with substandard and uninspired offerings by marketing original character designs that leave other 1:6 scale action figures in the dust . Check out Amaya DX and prepare to be stunned ! Finding Inspiration Off Scale ![]() When I saw " Cleatus " , the Fox Sports Robot at Toys R Us I was initially thinking " Cool , a robot to add to my " RobotHunters " milieu . . . unfortunately he was but 10 inches tall and shorter than most of my girls , bummer . Still he was a nice looking robo and appeared to have fairly nice articulation so I decided to buy one to see if he could still work alongside the other dolls for my sci-fi themed collection . Having already incorporated a 1:35 scale Mospeada Triple Change Mech into my " RobotHunters " I'm not shy about looking outside the 'ol 1:6 scale box for ways to enhance my collection , and " Cleatus " actually inspired me to deviate somewhat from my original thoughts and convert him into a mecha suit . You can see the " Work In Progress " in a step by step featurette by CLICKING HERE ! Crossing Scales Can Be Fun! The First Project of 2008 ! ![]() Let Barbie keep her ponies , my Cool Girls like much more dramatic steeds to ride into battle , so when I saw the Toys R Us Giant T-Rex Skeleton Kit I thought now was the time to create an articulated DinoDragon for the Leopard Girl ! It's 13 inches tall and 36 inches long and is a real shelf hog and perfectly suited for a custom kitbash into an articulated mount to throw fear into the most stout hearted enemy . Coming to Geeb-O-Rama will be the step by step tutorial to transform a static skeleton model kit into a primeval battle beast ! Catch the initial articulation tests for this first custom project of 2008 by CLICKING HERE ! ![]() What do you get when you combine a " holiday " inspired kitbash for MWD's Monthly contest and a custom that has a classic " Sinbad " theme ? You get a bunch of fun customizing ideas with Sideshow Toys' Tee Hee action figure and a great reason to create a 1:6 scale shamshir and MC Hammer pants ! Kwik Jump to Baba Noel ![]() Easily the most elaborate diorama I have ever created in the 30 odd years that I've been building them , the Sci-Fi diorama is finally finished ! Begun in June and finally completed in December you can see its creation from start to finish and maybe it will help you in your own work . Kwik Jump To the Tutorial ! ![]() My Alternative CG Ruby finally got her makeover after 2 years , and I got to use one of the awesome dresses created by An42 in the process , to create an anime inspired heroine in 1:6 scale . You can even get some mega huge downloadable images of my " Psychic Armageddon Saga Of The Biosabers " Poster art there as well ! Cool ! Kwik Jump To Biosaber Ruby! ![]() Men With Dolls Forum member FoxtrotTangoSix initiated a monthly kitbash contest during the summer , and it has proven to be quite a success and a heck of a lot of fun . For the month of November it gave me the opportunity to not just chop apart a perfectly good CG Destiny bodysuit but practice my face repaints too ! This time around I got to try my hand at removing the vaccuousness from Barbie's " Glinda The Good " Wizard of Oz headsculpt . Kwik Jump to the MWD November Kitbash Custom ! ![]() Just in time for that time of year when our thoughts turn to Ghoulies and Ghosties and Long Leggedy Beasties comes a new Signature Gorby Custom , the Lady Van Weiren , a kitbash custom executed for the October Men With Dolls Custom Kitbash Contest . Hester is my very first extreme makeover face paint , her headsculpt being Mattel's Barbie " Wicked Witch of the West " , yep the GREEN one and two new custom original CG style handsculpts . She also sports my very first 1:6 scale Vampire Signet ring . She can drink MY blood anytime ! You can take a look behind the screams at her creation by CLICKING HERE ! ![]() Bringing Dejah Thoris to 1:6 life is something I've wanted to do but had not found any headsculpt that fit my vision of the incomparably beautiful wife of John Carter , Warlord of Mars ; until I found Mattel's Cher doll . Now you can follow my work to create Edgar Rice Burrough's " Princess of Mars " ! A snazzy little promo animation for the Play Station Game Version of Cool Girls . . . is it any wonder these babes are hot ? One of the silliest "play scale" parodies ever created . I did a bit of research and learned that it was not created by silly German girls , but by a bunch of crazy Norwegian girls !
