There are no set in stone rules as to what you can use to create a sword or weapon . I've used pins , needles , paper clips , brass tubes ; really anything that may have been lying around when I needed to make something . With that in mind , here is a method using an aluminum rod , that can work as well with a paper clip . The key point to keep in mind : Is this the proper scale to pull off what I want to accomplish?

Needle nose pliers are used to flatten the end of the aluminum rod . You don't try to crunch it flat in one pass , but crunch it out in several . By doing it in several passes you can more easily control the shape ( crunching tends to cause the metal to curl ) and keep the stress level on the metal low enough that fatigue doesn't cause it to split or break . You can then file and dremel in exactly the same fashion as in the previous example using brass .

Because aluminum is softer than brass , it tends to nick and burr far more easily than brass . The good part though is it takes smoothing with abrasive sheets and the X-Acto knife beautifully , and you can get very nice crisp edges with aluminum .

The final smoothing and shaping is done with abrasive sheets on a wood block . Using a drawing motion, away from the point and towards yourself . you smooth along the angle of the cutting edge . In a manner of speaking it is much like drawing curved lines on the abrasive sheet with your weapon's blade .

This technique is particularly useful for spears , and specifically for Japanese Yari . It is also a great way to make knives and other smaller full tang edged weapons .

Gentlemen , Arm Your Kinis !

That is pretty much everything you need to know to begin making your owm scale weaponry . These techniques will allow you to create swords, knives, spears , bows , firearms . . . basically any weapon your Shockini might need to defend him or herself from the bad guys . Have fun !
