Obitsus In A CG World

My First Obitsu Joins My CG Collection

The very first hyper articulated figure bodies I ever purchased were Volks Neo Bodies , and while the Neo Male was up to my aesthetic preferences , I found the female Neos to be a bit too thin and stylized for what I was looking for in a female armature . My stylistic preferences were answered in the Cool Girl figures produced by Takara ,but as alternative body blanks for customization their post market retails often preclude their easy acquisition , so as one would assume , there comes a time to consider alternatives .

I've considered Obitsu body blanks for quite a while , but due to their similarities stylistically to the Volks figure blanks I have hesitated in acquiring any simply because i really didn't have need for them . Recently though some Azone Schoolgirl Blazer sets became available and since Azone clothes are rarely tailored to fit on the more voluptuous Perfect Bodies from BBi or the Takara CG's I decided to add an Obitsu body to the order to be able to utilize the Blazer sets and to see how they compared to the other 1:6 scale fem figures in my collection .

Obitsu Compared to Cool Girl

As far as scale goes , the Obitsu body integrates well enough within a collection dominated by CG bodies , while proportionally the Obitsus tend to be quite a bit more willowy and delicate of physique . Depending on how you intend to integrate these figures within your collection there are some limitations as regards headsculpts and hands and feet . As far as my own specific requirements go , the Obitsus work nicely enough as teenagers .

This Obitsu body blank has been modified , the original dinky little Obitsu feet have been replaced by the larger option foot set from my Volks Neo female body blank , which allowed me to utilize the nice Miss Fear pumps as footwear , they look more realistic than the very " doll-like " Azone shoes . This body also geve me the opportunity to utilize the headsculpt from Hot Toys' " Bounty Hunter Babe " which on a standard 1:6 body was a bit smallish . On the Obitsu body the headsculpt is quite nicely proportioned and definitely more realistic than your typical anime styled Obitsu head . I did need to go in and cut away the plastic neck area on the Hot Toys' headsculpt and carve around the hair line to minimize the disparity of neck thickness between the headsculpt and the Obitsu neck . The figure makes a great teenie bopper .
