How Can Triad Continue To Out Do Themselves ?!? Louie Tran and Shane Talbot continue their trend of pushing the envelope as regards Triad Toys' Premium DX Collector Sets with Natalya DX . Since their initial release of Yuni DX , Triad has set the bar pretty high when it comes to their 1 : 6 scale character option action figure sets , and it never ceases to amaze me that each successive release sets that bar just a tad higher than the previous release . I was damn impressed with Amaya DX , and knew that Natalya would at the least , live up to the expectations set by her . . . but to once AGAIN up the ante for expectant collectors with their newest DX release , Natalya , goes to show the commitment that Triad has towards this hobby . This was a dangerous option set for Triad , being that they have sacrificed head and neck articulation with the Natalya Headsculpt ; her hair is part of the sculpt rather than being rooted , an aesthetic decision that will likely put off as many collectors as it attracts , but fulfills something we can count on from Triad : these determinations are made for the artistry of the figure moreso than " play friendliness " and rather than detract does indeed enhance what the intentions are for the option set . Yep , Triad has indeed " Done IT Again ! " I've been awaiting an option set like Natalya for a couple of years , actually surprised that it has taken THIS long for her to make her appearance , but more than satisfied with her debut . In all honesty the rigid hair had me filled with trepidation , and it is the one aspect of the set that I don't like , but taken as a whole , I'm so pleased with this headsculpt and costume and accessory set that not having rooted hair seems such an insignificant complaint that I can find nothing but praise for Natalya , she pretty much sums up all that Triad promised in their solicitation . . . and THEN SOME !   I need to temper that statement with the admission that were it NOT for Takara's " Cool Girl " line this figure likely would not exist , but with Takara's cessation of active continuation of the legacy of their CG's other than the occasional infrequent release , it's heartening to know that Triad is more than willing to fill the gaps . Natalya more than lives up to the legacy and legendry of the Cool Girl , maybe not as fully as we ravenous and demanding fans might prefer ( Natalya doesn't come with a body , or hand options ) but regardless of these percieved shortcomings , I have to rate the excitation at receiving this set up there with my very first " Cool Girl " , Natalya is THAT DAMN COOL !!  The Natalya DX set comes with some " signature " weaponry , and previous to this , the only offering of Natalya's sword came from Weapons Master Auret7 , who did an exquisite job of replicating the intricacy of the engraving ( pretty much sealing his reputation as " 1:6 Scale Blademaster Supreme " ) . Triad has outdone ol' Auret ( hey , they had much more sophisticated resources , and I'd still kill a busload of babies to snag a version of HIS " natalya " sword ) thankfully Triad has provided me an escape from that commitment .  For those of us who've been buying Triad costumes for a while , the " Natalya " set is an alternative version of the Harley Chic 3.0 , and they have indeed made improvements . I already have the " red " version ( sadly the zipper ripped out during a costume change ) but this design imperfection has been addressed with the new " Natalya " version , the top went on so easily I was caught off guard , since I started dressing her with my previous disaster foremost in my mind . The pants fit much more nicely as well ( although this might just be attributed to the fact that the Natalya set is on a Soldier Story body and the Red version is on a PB . ) This has to be one of Triad's finest costume sets .  Shane Talbot deserves as award for the quality and artistry he brings to his scupting work . I am a sculptor , and I consider myself a damn fine one as well , but Shane really puts my skills to shame . I can't gush enough over Shane's work , he is indeed one of the most talented and skillful artists I've ever seen , everything he does is worthy of awards . There NEEDS to be a " Shane Talbot " award in the 1:6 Scale headsculpt field , he really IS THAT GOOD !! Combine Shane's sculpture with Customdawg's painting skills and you are the blessed recipient of some of the finest 1 : 6 face paint ops that are available and AFFORDABLE !! Then , of course , you factor in the resin that TRIAD uses for their headsculpts and you get an end product that is so lifelike it can make you do a cartoon double take . I still like Amaya better , but this is a sweet headsculpt . the transluscence of the resin Triad uses , in conjunction with the paint and lighting really brings out some magical qualities to this head sculpture . I need to bring to your attention that there are only 200 Natalya DX sets available , and once they are gone , they are gone . so pick up yours before she becomes an " archive " entry .
