You Only Live Twice . . . but these are films that you can watch over and over again and never get tired of . The mark of true " geek-ness " is the ability to recite dialogue word for word through your favorite movies . I am often looked at with questioning eyes when I tell people I've watched " The Road Warrior " well over 150 times , King Kong is a film where I've actually lost count as far as number of viewings . Not all movies are worth repeated viewing , and I tend to rate films according to their ability to hold my attention regardless of how often I've seen them .  Films So Good or so Bad they Mesmerize . . .
King Kong ( 1931 ) is so good that it will never lose its appeal , The Astounding She- Monster ( 1957 ) has that same magic but only due to its Astounding Crappiness . A buddy and I from animation school used to break each other up merely by vocalizing the Astounding She-Monster's " theme " during the course of a day . Being a dweeb for such bits of esoteric trivia found expression in " Twister " , as one of the tornado chasers states , as they locate one of their tornadic quarries " That's no moon , it's a space station ! "  I don't Know about Art , but I know what I Like . . . The sign of true " movie madness " is the ability to discern great cinematic art from pathetic cinematic art , yet being able to enjoy both on equal terms . You can't consider Ingmar Bergman's " The Seventh Seal " on the same level as Richard Elfman's " The Forbidden Zone " , but the stylistic similarities between both films do make you pause and say " hmmm " .  I've spent the past 20 years collecting films , having amassed a film library that has filled a number of shelving units . I try not to think about the amount of money spent on this collection . It has grown and shrunk again and again over time and on this particular section of Geeb-O-Rama , it is my intention to share with you the highlights of that collection . These are movies that I consider to be some of the greatest examples of cinematic artistry , regardless of their quality of content .
