![]() Being that this is The Takara Cool Girl Luv Site , this featurette actually combines a couple of Takara's Cool Toy lines in order to create an awesome Cool Girl Custom , primarily Cool Girl Aska , with some assistance from the Microman Collection and the Cy Com spin off series of BBI's Cy Girls . Having cannibalized Aska for some of my other customs , I was playing around with what I wanted to do with her leftovers . Thrown into the fray also were the remnants of my heavily cannibalized Cy Com Spectre Ninja figure . My Cyber Huntress began with my breaking down Cy Com Ninja into all of his component pieces and studying them in order to see what could be done with them . The initial experiments began with the transparent chest armor . ![]() With a successful conversion of the Spectre Ninja's chest plates into an armored breastplate that would fit Aska , I then made the decision to take the Ice costume ( Before Cardinal Garrison ) and use it for the costume of the Cyber Huntress . I substituted Ice's boots in favor of some Metallic Blue Knee Highs from one of my Fun Toys Catsuits , and put Ice's choker to duty as an armband . At this stage I had not yet decided upon a back pack , but the elements for such potential were there , so I added magnets to the back of the breastplate , the MAS ( Magnetic Attachment System ) that was introduced by the Armour Core Prototype from Fun Toys and Figure Monster is a really cool Techno attachment system that I've been hankering to play around with . ![]() ![]() I wanted to use the CyCom Ninja's forearm armor for this figure and as I began modifying it for incorporating it onto the Aska figure , I decided to have a bit of more magnetic fun and make one of her arms a cybernetic arm , that can be popped off and replaced with a weapon ( an homage to classic Manga anti-hero Cobra ) . At this stage I had already decided that this was the figure I would use to also incorporate the Robo-Arms I had purchased the Microman Kong Biomachine many months earlier for . With that in mind I also attached magnets into the ports on the exterior of the forearm guards . ![]() ![]() ![]() I picked up several more of the Microman Biomachines solely with the intention of utilizing them to create the Exo-Suit back pack that would serve to facilitate the Robotic Arms for my Cyber Huntress . Takara's Microman series is full of modular components that allow you to make a whole range of your own custom Microman figures beyond those for which the intial design was intended . Thus , I had all sorts of nifty little bits and pieces to play with as I designed my Robot Killer . I wanted her to have armored boots , and originally planned on using the various armor plates from the Ice costume for that , but with the addition of all these killer little Microman knick knacks to my kitbash stock , the boot armor very quickly got enhanced . The biggest problem was deciding on methods of attachment . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've loved Takara Toys for 30 years , simply because of their outstanding attention to quality and inherent creativity of design . Their toys inspire . The Microman Biomachines are designed to enable you to combine all 4 vehicles into one larger robot , so creating the exo-suit back pack was pretty simple and was perfectly suited for what I wanted to do with this figure . And , since they are designed with modular play in mind , they provide plenty of potential options for all sort of nifty ideas . Pegs and holes on the back pack would allow me to attach the robot arms to the pack when not deployed . I cut off the screw hole flanges from an electrical toggle switch to form the metal plates that would serve to magnetically attach the back pack to the breastplate . ![]() When I initially purchased the Biomachine Kong , one of the reasons was to use those arms for a 1/6 scale custom . It took awhile to actually find the right opportunity and doll to use them , but once that opportunity knocked I was at the door . I could have kept the arms attached to the Microman Biomachine but since I wanted to have them free , attached to the arms of the figure in line with the climbing claws I had designed for the characters of Spurr and Lucci in the B-Movie comic book series Parts Unknown I separated them from the chasis of the Kong machine . ![]() ![]() I needed to do some additional modifications to to the back pack for the design of the Robo Arms . I removed the shoulder joints from the MachineMirror Biomachine and I attached the ankle joints from the CyCom Ninja to the elbow joints of the Kong Biomachine , also replacing the wheels with the handles cut from a SEAL divers' spotllight . I merely widened one of the port details on the robot arm to insert a magnet that would hold the arm in place on the figure's forearm guards . ![]() ![]() Having finished all the preliminary and base modifications , the Exo Suit back pack was ready for a test fit , and amazingly enough , it worked like a charm . I was amazed at how naturally everything synced up despite being of two different scales , one being 1/18 and the other 1/6 . ![]() ![]() I took the laser rifle from my old Transformers Robotech Valkyrie for use as the primary weapon of my Cyber Huntress , I also cut off the barrel from one of Ice's pistols and replaced it with the barrel from an old Robotech Zentraedi walker for a sidearm . Still need to come up with a suitable holster for that . I plan on using the plastic coils from an Office Depot pen set for the Robo Arm control cables , since having spring coiled cables look so much more interesting than straight rubber tubing . From there it's just a matter of continuing the color scheme for a repaint on the various accoutrements to give the figure that finished look . Definitely an engaging and enjoyable job of customizing . This is another figure I would define as a " signature " piece . ![]() ![]() I've been looking for a suitable robot to add to the Cyber Hunters , and I found it in the Toy Biz Marvel Legends Icon line , specifically the Iron Man figure . Once the trademark red and gold is obliterated by a neutral gray primer , say goodbye Marvel Icon and hello mechaman . Sgt.Kattaloon | Cmdr.
