I guess I've never really grown up , perhaps even regressing further with age , but toys hold as much if not more fascination for me now than when I was a legitimate " KID " . The variety of toys nowadays is quite a bit different from when I was growing up , and to be sure the sophistication of those toys has improved over the passage of time . I've amassed a number of collections over the years , some of which I've kept and some I've abandoned . My original Star Wars collection from the intial commencement after the first movie through Return of The Jedi is one that I traded primarily due to the sheer size of it , I no longer had the room to store it . It might be argued that the toy dealer who got it was the real winner of the deal , since I unloaded the whole thing just to get my hands on Aurora's King Kong model kit . For me , the collecting and trading of toys is not about cost or profit , it's about acquisition of an item that holds some intangible " meaning " to me. My longbox original issue of the " Land of the Giants " Snake kit was found in a store window in Pittsburgh in 1979 and purchased for the outrageous price of $3.25 . I dropped $60 on my TakaToku Toys " VF-1S Battroid Valkyrie " in New York in '82 , and is still one of my prize pieces . For the most part , those toys still in my collection are ones that I find particularly great , regardless of how much or how little they may be worth . Geeb's Toy Box is my forum to share with you , my favorite toys; both old and new . ![]() ![]() Sorry Matchbox , I Like Action Figures ! My first toy collection started with that classic series that came in tiny little yellow boxes , small enough to fit in your pocket. . . MATCHBOX CARS . Those fabulous little automotive replicas were the seed that grew into my appreciation for miniatures with their precise detailing and portability . I had hundreds and all could be stored within a 3 foot space . Over the years my interests turned from cars to figures , mainly because action figures could take on a life of their own whereas cars were just that , cars . My initial customizations were , however , those selfsame Matchbox cars , the VW Beetle became Herbie the Love Bug , and the Mustang became the very vehicle driven by James Bond in " Diamonds Are Forever " . The inumerable HO scale army men and vehicles that once filled a box the size of an " all-in-one " printer are long since gone , as is the 5 foot by 5 foot terrain diorama built to wage full scale WWII war games . The multitude of plastic dinosaurs that once filled three 2 foot square boxes , are also gone along with GI JOE, Major Matt Mason, The Fighting Knights and their 3 inch tall counterparts with interchangeable torsos , legs and weapons . All that remains now are the memories , and the new toys that have replaced them . That may be why the collection of toys continues for me , the new goodies help rekindle those fond remembrances of a happy and carefree childhood . The toys featured in my Toy Box are pretty remarkable , ranging from Japanese imports to some of the more modern examples of action figures, in particular Cool Girls and Shocker Toys' Shockinis and transcend the concept of " play things " to take a place as collectibles, toys worth displaying . | ReelArts Blue Bulleteer | Shocker Toys | Cool Girls | KiniKomix | KiniKomix2 | Custom Action Figures | eBay Auctions | AppleseedTribute | Macross Valkyrie | Planet of the Apes | Horse Sense | WeaversUpholsteryToo | ToyBiz_Iron Man | Dirty Pair | On Display | The OTHER Gorby | | Return Home | Updates | The Archive | Gorby Site Map | Geeb-O-Rama's Model Workshop | Geeb's Toy Box | Geeb-O-Rama Goodies | Movie Madness | World Of The Bizarre | Cool Beans | |
