One of the American Icons of the custom Action Figure Industry goes by the nom de plume Customdawg , whose website Dawgestyle was one of the primary factors in my movement from simple collector to customizer . Having seen a niche within the Action Figure market that was sorely needed he formed Triad Toys and has begun creating and releasing true works of art that until now have been dominated almost primarily by the asian market . With Triad Toys' initial release in their line of custom action figure character accessories kits , DX Style Yuni ; Customdawg has proven that Triad promises to be a force to be reckoned with . ![]() There are a great deal of available headsculpts in the 1/6th scale action figure market , though few are actually female and NONE have the type of features to be found with Triad Toys' products . Taken to the extreme , the DX Style line are limited edition productions that are hand painted to painstaking detail ( even capturing skin texture ) and featuring moveable eyes and this feature in and of itself justifies the expensive but reasonable pricetag . The DX Style line has raised the bar for the custom action figure market and it will be interesting to see how the big dawgs respond to the customdawg . ![]() I had already begun work on my studded leather armor suit prior to purchasing Yuni , and after receiving the DX Style kit knew that I had found a more than suitable head to place on the body that wore it . The stock release of Yuni came with a Gothic Lolita styled kimono , which also was on par with the type of costume quality that Triad has so amply displayed time and time again , and despite the fact that my sewing skills are no where near to competing with those of the seamsters of Triad , I felt that at least on the outside I could create a costume to compliment the Yuni sculpt . ![]() ![]() This was the theme I was attempting to capture with my suit of leather armor , a companion piece with several other medeival fantasy styled customs I have created in my Cool Girl collection . Starting with the Takara Catwoman bodysuit as a base , I glued the tassels from a pair of leather dress shoes that I had worn out onto the shoulder armor . The body armor has been constructed in two pieces , the main piece being a leather vest with a companion piece of studded waist armor that buckles over Yuni's midsection . This piece can be removed when she's not preparing for a combat situation . ![]() Considering the pricetag of these DX Style sets , for most collectors they might seem too expensive . Taken at their most basic elements , they are fairly priced . The costuming alone would be valued at $45 and a headsculpt of this quality , combined with the moveable eyes and the hand paint ops is more than a bargain at another $45 . You 'll not find a comparable item anywhere for that ! Add in the Limited Edition factor ( only 50 sets were produced ) and you've got a piece of custom artwork that will add to the value as well as character of your 1/6th Scale action Figure collection . ![]() Yuni is a fantasy styled ninja , so I thought I'd probably better give her a mask , but rather than the typical full hood and mask of a ninja , I decided to make just a half mask . The mask simply wraps around the head , the straps coming around and tied at the top of the crown . ![]() ![]() Since assassins prefer to strike from a distance , I have also outfitted Yuni with a bow , this one is not true 1/6th scale , but makes an adequate substitue for a hankyu . This bow and quiver set are from a Monofuku Trading set , the same from which I got Yuni's sword . ![]() ![]() For even more shots of the completed Yuni , follow the link to the next feature page , WARNING : This thumbnail page leads to my trademark Anti-Dialup Outrageously big Geeb-O-Rama pictures !
