Triad Toys : The Fine Art of Action Figure Accessories

With the DX Style Line of action figure accessory sets ,Triad Toys continues to produce and release state of the art collectors editions that are truly the finest quality available in the 1:6 scale action figure market . The latest in their small run , 50 edition collection , is DX Alex ; and she is without doubt one of their best , perhaps only outclassed by DX Sanchez , but the margin is thin .

Conjuring Up Images of Far Eastern Myth . . .
The DX Alex Accessory set comes with Triad's White Kabuki ensemble , a modernized kimono , calf high peaked boots with stiletto heels and black panties and of course , the Alex headsculpt . As usual the headsculpt features Triad's patented moveable eye system so that you can fix her gaze wherever you wish .

There are some who find the DX line unappealing due to the sculpted hair , preferring rooted heads but for the hairstyles that have been part of the style in the DX line , it's difficult to think that a root job would look any finer . The sculpting on all the DX heads when it comes to the hair has always been extremely realistic to the point where a rooted hair style would be practically impossible to achieve and look as believable in the scale .

As is again typical with Triad products , the costuming is exceptional and amazingly precise and well constructed . Some of the most wonderful custom costuming available in the 1:6 scale action figure market is currently being produced by Triad .

For these images , Alex is equipped with a daisho from DiD's Takeda Shingen Samurai figure , again some truly exceptional die-cast metal weaponry with gorgeous attention to detail .

Better Than The SDCC Exclusive !
This is the second version of the DX Alex headsculpt , the first being an exclusive for the San Diego Comic Con if I recall correctly . The difference between the two was costuming and hairstyle . I like this one best , simply because the hairstyle is apropo whether you go for a " period " custom or even a modern version in a business suit . One could make a very nice looking Deathstrike from X-Men 2 with this version .

As is the norm for these Triad Premium headsculpts , the paint job is done by hand and is of exceptional quality . The finish on this one has the look and feel of porcelain which works quite nicely with the asian features . Again , unlike many headsculpt paint jobs , the lips have a very soft and natural treatment that I find extremely attractive . The moveable eye feature that is intrensic with all the DX headsculpts again just puts these action figure accessory sets so far above every other headsculpt on the market the expensive pricetag is always money well spent . I'll add though , that the price is quite reasonable when you consider the attention to detail and overall quality of the individual pieces .
