My First AC Comics Character Custom

My fanatical collecting of Cool Girls was instigated by the custom Action Figures of Joe Acevedo who had created a couple of AC Characters , She-Cat and Miss Victory , using Cool Girls . I too , wished to create some custom Cool Girl Femforcers , but being a novice at sewing , opted to take on the easiest character first in order to give me opportunity to hone my skills on other figures . General Strock ; being an army officer was the easiest , since the 1/6 scale action figure genre is dominated by military figures . It also gave me the opportunity to create a One of a Kind figure for a True Blue FemFan , Mr. Jim Johnston , who has as big a jones for General Strock as I have .

The easy part of this custom , was the new hairstyle on the Ebony figure . I began by de-wigging her . I then used coarse turf from Woodland Scenics , dyed brown to make her curly ' fro . To achieve the crew cut , the colored turf was cut and trimmed to shape , 1 piece that covered the back of her head and making up the sideburns , 1 piece to form the front and 1 piece to form the flat top . These were glued in place with Sobo Glue and the edges teased out to blend . A second layer of Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement was then applied to adhere the separate hair pieces together .

The hardest part of this custom was the costuming , since there are far too few female military figures on the market , those that are ; sadly , are discontinued . Thanks to eBay I was able to purchase Skynet's Corporal Jammie Summers who provided the General's standard dress uniform in which she appears in practically every appearance within the Femforce comic . Thanks also to the Old Joe Infirmary for offering CG compatible feet thru their Fembasix line .

This figure was based off General Strock as she appeared in the Rad Mini-series I wrote and illustrated in 1994 for AC , so I needed also to get my hands on some camo fatigues , originally I had her decked out in camos from Power Team Elite , but I really wanted to get her dressed in camos from Dragon Models Ltd . who make some outstandingly accurate military uniforms . Again , thanks to eBay , I was able to find offered their " Amy " figure , and after several heated bidding sessions and several losing auctions , I was able to get my hands on two Amy figures , one in desert camo and one in woodland camo . I was then able to ditch the original Cool Girl boots in favor of some genuine combat boots which worked nicely over the OJI Fembasix feet .

I took Frank Black's Colt .45 for the General , and also used a BBI Elite Force AR-15 for the General's weapons ( she doesn't actually use a rifle in the Rad mini-series , but I did an illustration of her from her tour of duty during the invasion of Grenada at Femforce Millennium where she is carrying one so I thought it appropriate ) . I also picked up some 1/6 scale black briefcases so I can include that and the files she carried to her meeting at the Pentagon at the outset of the Rad mini-series .

Since I created this custom for Jim Johnston , I will also be recreating an actual " Femforce Adventures " Action Figure Box mock-up to put her in prior to shipping her out , thereby creating an " Action Figure that Never Was " illusion .

This figure is probably the closest I've come to duplicating the amount of money spent on my custom Warrior Maiden . I will say this , when you are having fun , doing something you love , for someone very special , price is never a consideration .

Chasing Amy

Dragon Models makes some durn awesome military action figures . Now , aside from GI Joe , I have never been much of a military action figure fan , despite the exquisite examples that are available . Amy , however , is a special case . This is a sweet figure , all the way around . The head sculpt is gorgeous , the costuming is flawless and the poseability of the figure is on par with Cool Girl Version 2.0 bodies .

I was " chasing Amy " for the sole purpose of getting her costuming for my General Strock custom , I missed on my several initial eBay hunts for her , on every version of her that has been produced . When I finally succeeded in winning an auction , it was for two different versions , an Army and an Airforce version , the Airforce version was canibalized for General Strock and this one , the Army version , I have kept in stock condition .

As I had mentioned , I'm not big on military figures past a certain point , but due to the quality of the accoutrements and the costuming of this figure I consider this a fabulous figure , well worth keeping as she was intended .

A Rarity : An uncustomized Kat figure

I 've got three Kat figures , one being a Perfect Body version that became Tesse from " Pearls of Blood " , one that became Estra La , my notoriously expensive Warrior Maiden and this one who despite the trend , has remained uncustomized . I'll probably end up buying another Kat figure , since she will be the figure chosen when I get around to customizing AC's " She-Cat " .

This is one of my favorite Cool Girls , everything about her is along my artistic ideals for a killer babe . She happens , also , to be the very first Cool Girl that I purchased over a year ago . This is the figure that " hooked " me .
