Villains are never easy to create , primarily due to the fact that they are the nemesis of Heroes , who typically have a well established fan base . Villains therefore require a great deal of planning in order to compete with this pre-established appeal for their protagonists , basically they need to be as cool as if not cooler than the heroes they must come in conflict with . The Bad Guys , or in the case of " Pearls of Blood " ; BAD GIRLS , were crucial characters in that they had to be able to compete not only with the characters of Kumi and Tesse , but AC Comics' stalwarts She-Cat and The Scarlet Scorpion , a pretty tall order . The villainesses created , Ghost Tiger and Black Dragon have progressed jointly , both being created in tandem and in contrast to one another much like the characters of Kumi and Tesse , one reflecting an archaic style while the other embodies a more modern look . Black Dragon has reached completion first and makes her debut here . The catalyst for Black Dragon was the acquisition of Jakks Pacific Lucy Lieu action figure from the " Charlie's Angels " movie . Jakks' figure was really nothing more than a glorified Barbie Doll , no comparison to a Cool Girl by any means , aside from the awesome likeness of Lucy Lieu's portrait . Lucy's head was a bit larger than a CG's , which made fitting it to a Cool Girl problematic without a bit of neck extention ; however it did transfer rather nicely to 21st Century Toys' " Jacqueline " figure , making a villainess a bit more than six feet in stature , a definite plus for a bad girl . The super long raven tresses on the Lucy head , combined with Jacqueline's black velvet catsuit and the 1/6 scale transference of a 6 foot + femme helped cement the name of Black Dragon . Putting together the costume was a bit more difficult and came in stages . Originally clad in a midi black leather skirt in combination with the tunic from CG Shadow Black Dragon looked pretty good , and I was content with that until I picked up the Cy Girls counterpart Cy Com Spectre , a cyborg Ninja figure . His pants , styled in ther manner of ko-bakama had the color and style well suited for a deadly lady ninja , so they replaced the skirt . I had previously experimented with Barbie's BatGirl boots as forearm guards for Tesse , and with a rounder knee high black boot from another Barbie fashion set I did some cutting and trimming to form Dragon's arm guards . I've always liked the look of the outrageously large kuwagata on japanese kabuto , and Cy Com's Spectre had a back piece on his armor that I thought would make a nifty simacula of such a thing , in addition to resembling some of the hair adornments of japanese women , it in turn serves to represent the horns of the Black Dragon ( it also helps to balance out the really long hair of the Lucy head as the overall figure's look is concerned ) . The real finishing touch for this figure are the tabi boots , which are an extremely difficult accoutrement to find for a 1/6 scale figure ! After a great deal of research , and against my better judgement , I decided to make the attempt to hand sew a pair . I'm new to sewing , so making such a " definitive " style of boot was really a fool's errand , but I figured it was at least worth a shot , if only for the experience gained from making the attempt ; I determined that at worst I could always make a second pair after my skills had improved . As they stand now , they aren't bad , at least as far as representing for conceptualization purposes . I did learn a lot from their execution . Black Dragon's obi was much easier to create and succeeds in creating the look and function I sought , part of which was to serve as a way of holding the scabbards of her short swords in traditional japanese fashion .
