![]() With the complex diversity of the innumerable races populating the galaxy , the problems faced by Robo Security Force Commissioner Ada Achilles in the processing of her duties was ever a burden upon her . Never much to mince politics with policy the seat of Commissioner rarely gave Commander Achilles the amount of freedom she felt was necessary to actually make headway in the struggle of human robotic relations . Confined within the political structure and galactic policy forced by membership and inclusion in a community of worlds in existence since well before her birth , in addition to the disparity of opinions within that community towards the dispensation of civil rights to beings making up the sub-social strata of articial lifeforms , it might come as no surprise that Cmdr Achilles felt that the Robo Sec Force was more a public relations platform moreso than a viable line of defense . ![]() The Uprising at Epson Delta , where the robotic workforce went on strike ; that subsequently resulted in the total cessation of production of key armaments in support of the military campaign going on at the Belts of Antirres 7 and the total rout and obliteration of the entire 5th and 14th Brigades of the Stellar Marines by the aggressing Brekon Empire , Commissioner Achilles found herself confronted with a dilemna that impelled her to make a fateful decision . Notwithstanding the fact that her control and execution of the directives of the Robo Sec Force succeeded in a relatively peaceful settlement at Epson Delta , Cmdr Achilles realized that the true battle was lost on not just the picket lines, but on the front lines of Antirres 7 , with the human lives extinguished at the Battle of the Belts . Achilles would never be able to reconcile the loss of a single human soul with that of a machine , regardless of the arguments that sentient artificials possess the equivalent " spiritual identity " . Two weeks after Epson Delta , Ada Achilles resigned her commission and retired to the private sector . Her retirement however , was only a short intermission , as would soon be revealed . ![]() The repercussions that rushed across the galaxy with the initial intervention of the RobotHunters at the Mangadan Massacre , and the revelation that Achilles was behind the slaughter forced the Global Defense Initiative to take a rather hardline stance at the ensuing political debates that followed . To state that the Galactic Omnibus found the actions of the citizens of their neighbor Earth to be beyond redemption falls rather short of truly emphasizing the severity of the infraction . Still , the fact that the entire affair succeeded in polarizing the underlying camps within all the myriad societies , and shed light on an ever-growing yet often ignored social consciousness that transcended differences in species , gave the GDI the fortitude to make a politically unpopular stand . Those most powerful and benevolent species realized that they were too few to keep the precarious hold over a universe teeming with aggressive races , without making some sort of compromise . Depending on ones point of view , 2346 was either the Darkest Day or The Brightest Night , and Ada Achilles was the harbinger . ![]() Downplaying the significance of her role in the changing tides within the continuum of galactic society , Commander Achilles views her situation as the natural order of things , irregardless of an individual identity . She just happened to be standing at the nexus of where the dice of God were rolled . She does however acknowledge that in a violent universe ; to feel safe , sometimes you need to have a big ugly dog guarding your hearth , and that's a role she's comfortable playing .
