![]() Really just to deviate from the fairly typical " dark " colors so prevalent in the 1:6 world when it comes to " mech suits " , even though there are really quite few I decided to give the sports robot armor parts a new paint job . One thing I learned from repainting the rotocast Iron Man , is that on the joints and hinges and those area that get a lot of wear via articulation , it's going be difficult to keep the paint intact . I used Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic paint to start the base color and once I had given the figure several thin coats I applied a couple of coats of Artists' grade Workable Matte Fixatif . ![]() ![]() I've chosen a light basecoat because at this stage I'm not sure exactly what color scheme I'll execute for this power armor , and it's easier to go darker on a light base than lighter over a dark base . Delta's Ceramcoat is a fairly tough acrylic paint , and I am hoping this quality will help in those areas that will get a lot of movement . Applying the Workable Fixatif between layers as I build up the base coat will hopefully also aid in preventing the paint from abrazing off those high stress areas . When it comes to the final paint scheme , weathering the suit will also come into play to help with the probable wearing off of the paint at those high impact joints and hinges , and with the proper application of colors any such wear and tear might actually work to give the suit a realistic appearance . A sidenote : I still have yet to fully seat the legs onto the PB hips section for a couple of reasons . A : I have not yet decided what type of covering/suit for the " girl " parts , B : I can't fully seat the legs until I have completed the base painting and sealing , C : I will likely cut a bit more off the PB thighs in order to get the location of the knee joints to a more proportional placement on the legs , and lastly ; I am thinking about reattaching the " cletus " leg posts onto the PB thighs incorporating Kneadatite and anchoring screws to make sure that once the legs are seated permanently they won't come apart . | Let's Paint ! | PaintinKini2 | Steve Zodiac Shockini Custom | Sword Making | Swordmaking1 | Swordmaking2 | WarhorsePreview | Simple Masks | EasyVelcro_fro | Cool Girl Wrist Conversion | samurai_saddle | DX Disaster | Fix It!
