![]() Distributed by Palisades , Bandai's Aki Ross 12 inch action figure leaves much to be desired . The headsculpt suffers primarily from the lackluster paint job , and I won't even address my issues with the body . Still , for those of us wanting to improve our repainting skills , this is a great figure to practice on . ![]() This is my fourth session at repainting a headsculpt , and it is a decided improvement over my previous three . As with anything , the more you do it the better you get . My particular weakness is eyelashes so this was the main focus of work on this repaint . As with my third practice head , I did not bother to remove the factory paint , I just painted over it . Again I used my cheap craft acrylics . I used my standard assortment of brushes , a #4 Shader to cover the head in fleshtone , a #0 round and a 10/0 series M , all by Loew Cornell , not great brushes but adequate for the job . I screwed up my first attempt at the lashes , so I covered up that layer with a re-application of fleshtone with my airbrush . ![]() Unlike my previous repaints , this time I used a retarding medium for acrylic paints to slow the drying process and improve flow . I also took more time to paint the lashes and brows . I first applied the liner around the eye , then my second pass I applied four lashes , my third pass I added smaller , more fine lashes between them . I took deliberate and careful strokes with each lash , not only to keep my hand steady , but also to control the shape of the lash . The smaller lashes were done a bit quicker , just a slash really . The lashes were built up in darkness , the first color being a sepia , and then adding a bit more black with the sucessive applications . The same was done for the brows . Unlike my first three repaints , this time I actually dabbed some pinkish brown paint into the nostrils . I also scraped some burnt sienna chalk pastel onto a tissue and using a q-tip , blushed the nose , cheeks and eyelids . I did the same using scarlet for the cheeks at the temple line . I then sealed the surface with a matte finish acrylic spray , though I have not yet glossed the eyes or lips . This one turned out fairly nicely as a novice piece . ![]() | Mail-O-Rama | Geeb's How To | Head Sculpts Using Polymer Clay | Customizing The Batcycle | 1/6 scale diorama | terrain diorama | 1/6 Scale Boots | Re-Rooting Hair | BimBott | Read_A_Book | WorksInProgress | Aki Ross Repaint | Gun-Bashing | painting heads | Diorama Technique 3 | | Return Home | Updates | The Archive | Gorby Site Map | Geeb-O-Rama's Model Workshop | Geeb's Toy Box | Geeb-O-Rama Goodies | Movie Madness | World Of The Bizarre | Cool Beans | |
